It’s getting cold. There is one chore every driver ends up putting up with that they tend to hate in the winter, especially if you are not in New Jersey. That is pumping gas. My Golden Girls Sophia is coming out- Picture this “Winter 2022 it’s 10 degrees, it’s so cold I saw chickens lining up at KFC for their turn at the deep fryer.” When it’s that cold, everyone hates pumping gas, there’s not one good way to do it that doesn’t involve you freezing your tuckus off. Here's where the problem comes in- you can do it fast, or you can do it right. If you do it right, your fingers fall off while pumping gas, and if you do it fast, your check engine light comes on. Some vehicles will even tell you to check gas cap. I will tell you a little secret about check engine lights. Like a vague-poster on Facebook, they tend not to give the everyday Joe a whole lot of information to go on. The check engine light is ... read more

On any given day I have so many, many phone calls. 10% are telemarketers (which face it they are fun to mess with), 10% are my suppliers, and the other 80% are my customers. My customers call me for one of three reasons, their car needs work, and they don’t have the time or tools to fix it, they don’t know how to, or they simply don’t want to. With today’s cars being so super techy, you have lights: to tell you have low brakes, the wrong butt is in the seat, air filter should be changed, traction control is off, you even have one to tell you, your trailer is no longer hooked up. You also have a check engine light which is really a misnomer because that light could come on because you forgot to close the gas cap the last time you filled up. Now you could go to AutoZone, or some places they will read the code sometimes for free, tell you about the most common fixes for any car make and model with that code, and they will promptly sell you whatever parts they can talk you into buying. I have been battling how to use funds off these VISA and Mastercard giftcards that we get for rebates, and I knows that the customers have too, which have made the giftcard rebates unattractive to receive. After alot of research and alot of trial and error, I have found a good way to use them that has not added to my belt line and have had success with it. You will need an Amazon account. Below is the list of steps I use. Step #1 - Gather all these cards Check and make expiration dates are still good. You are going to call the number on the back and run through the prompts to find out the balance on the card. I reccommend writing the balance on the back. Step #2 - Go to Amazon.com Once you are on Amazon go to your account page. On your account page you will see the option for Gi ... read more

Maintenance. Repair. Money. Those seem to be dirty words when concerning your daily driver vehicle. The thing is doing these items will make your daily driver last a lot longer than it takes: To find a new car Talk to the salesman Figure out a payment you can swing financially Take the time off work to go in and test drive the new one Fill out paper work Turn down unnecessary warranties and packages Figure out trade in value on your daily driver and figure out if you can live with the depreciated amount Have them get the car ready Then take your new car out Figure out what each new feature does Get your seat and mirrors just the way you want them Try and stay up on the maintenance on that new car at a dealer which may or may not be in your backyard or right around the corner (so add more driving time to get there) Dealing with them upselling more than what is needed on your brand new car, where you may or may not need to stay with your vehicle in a large waiting room listening to ele ... read more
